Check in and let us take you on a little journey through time - the entire hotel "Nordhäuser Fürstenhof" is furnished in the style of the 1920s. We have succeeded in combining stylish interiors of bygone times with today's amenities in order to create an unforgettable ambience for you, as a guest of our house. Original newspaper clippings as wallpaper, small details such as light switches and shower heads, individual room furnishings with reference to great personalities, all of this is reminiscent of glamorous times.
The direct proximity to the train station and the short distance from the highway A38 to the “Nordhäuser Fürstenhof” hotel enable you to have a relaxed journey. Our own parking lot is available to our guests.

Historical
From the history of the house
1867 - with the commissioning of the Nordhausen-Halle (Saale) railway line, the original hotel was built. It was named and mentioned for the first time in 1877 after its owner Ignaz Wieg. It was only given the name Fürstenhof in 1921 and became known through concerts and events and was mainly booked by business people and traveling salesmen.
You can get a small impression of this time in our bathrooms. There you can see our unique design with special designed wall papers. The design is based on original templates from the newspaper Nordhäuser Zeitung, printed in 1927 on the occasion of the 1000th anniversary of the city.
After Nordhausen suffered severe destruction during the World War II, the hotel's rooms were now used as sales outlets for the bombed shops. The Fürstenhof became the Handelshof and so not only the use of the house but also the name changed. For the first time in 1945 on the outside of the building the illuminated sign with the inscription "Handelshof" lit up.
In 1956 the owner Carl Seidenstücker handed over his privately run house to the during the time of the GDR very common state trade organization HO. When the adjacent restaurant was given up in 1969, the room capacity could be increased by about 30 rooms and the structure of the house known today was completed.
After the german reunion in 1990, the traditional house went into private ownership and was continued under the name Handelshof until December 2018. In January 2019 the hotel was taken over by Axel Heck and reopened under the name Nordhäuser Fürstenhof on August 22, 2019. The “Echte Nordhäuser Fürstenhof Lounge” bar on the 4th floor with a view over the roofs of the city of Nordhausen was integrated and is a very popular highlight of our hotel.

1921
Hotel "Fürstenhof"
From 1924 to 1945 the hotel was again called the “Fürstenhof” hotel. In the meantime it was mainly known to business people, business travelers and visitors to the city. 1945
Handelshof
Between 1945 and 1953 the hotel had become a trading yard. The rooms served as temporary outlets for many bombed-out retailers. An outside light advertisement with the inscription "Handelshof" was put up. After Nordhausen suffered severe destruction during the World War II, the rooms of the hotel were used as sales outlets for the bombed shops. The Fürstenhof became the Handelshof and so not only the use of the house changed, but also the name. In 1945 the illuminated sign with the inscription "Handelshof" lit up outside for the first time.
1956
Trade organisation of GDR - HO

1980
Hotel "Börse"
In the early 1980s, the neighboring hotel "Börse" was given up. By taking over and connecting the building, the Hotel "Handelshof" was expanded by around 30 rooms.
1990
Private hotel "Handelshof"
After the german reunion in 1990, the traditional house went into private ownership and was continued under the name Handelshof until December 2018.
2019
Hotel "Nordhäuser Fürstenhof"
Axel Heck acquired the house from a Swiss investor in 2017. On August 22, 2019, Heck reopened the house, but under the name "Nordhäuser Fürstenhof" and thus went back to the roots.
Excursion destinations
Nordhausen can look back on a thousand-year and eventful history. The many epochs have left visible traces and make history tangible. But the area also offers numerous interesting excursion destinations. In addition, the traditional “Harzer Schmalspurbahnen” start right outside the door of our hotel - the successful start to an excursion on the legends shrouded mountain Brocken.
